Chemical Education (15 th ICCE) to be held in Cairo, Egypt from August 9-14,1998. The conference is
organized by the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of science, Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt under
the sponsorship of IUPAC and UNESCO. The conference theme conforms with chapter 36 of the agenda
21of the Rio declaration of the UN Conference in Brazil 11 998) on "Environment and Development"
which is concerned with promotion education, public awareness and training.

CALL FOR PAPERS
Contribution as oral presentation or posters, are encouraged. Abstracts must be sent to the chairman of
organizing committee not later than May 31,1998. The instructions for preparation of the abstracts are given in the closed guidelines. Abstracts received by E-mail will be prepared by the local committee.


LANGUAGE
The official language of the conference will be English.

PUBLICATIONS
The plenary lectures will be published in Joumal Pure and Applied Chemistry. A book of abstracts containing
all contributions will be distributed at the conference.

VENUE
The conference will be held at Cairo International Convention Center ( CICC ).
The center is located in Nasr City, it comprises three main conference halls, a fourth for receptions and
a fifth for exhibitions. In addition, there are fully-equipped secretarial
offices and press center.

ACCOMMODATION Accommodation is available in hotels close to the conference venue. A block booking has been made for conference participants and accompanying persons at -hotels of different categories (3-5 stars) at a reasonable rate. CANCELLATION
If you cancel your registration before July 1, 1998, 50fb of your registration
fee will be refunded. No refunds can be made thereafter. If a written
notification has been received by the conference 
committee, the refund will be made. Please indicate your address and bank transfer number. SOCIAL EVENTS The following social events will be arranged without extra charge during the conference: Welcome Reception: August 8th (20.00-22.00). Banquet: August 10th (21.00-23.00) , this will be a boat trip along the river Nile. Excursion :August 12th, Pyramids and Sphinx of Giza or Saqqara + sound and light show at Pyramids.

Including tours to visit Khan El Khalili bazaars, Harraneya village &
Kerdasa, Old Citadel, mosques,  churches, Islamic museum, Coptic museum and
Egyptian museum etc. (Available on request).
PRE
AND POST CONFERENCE TOURS A variety or pre and post
conference tour programs to Upper Egypt, South Sinai and Hurghada 
(Red Sea) are organized. Transportation, guide, sightseeing entrance fees and taxes are included in the cost. (See attached form ).

CURRENCY
REGULA TION: I. There is no limit to the amount of Foreign
currencies that tourists may bring with them into Egypt, whether in bank note,
travelers checks, money orders, bank drafts, bills of exchange or letters of
credit.  2. Egyptian bank note and currency cannot be brought into the country. 
3. The rate of exchange or such transactions will be the current touristic rate
of exchange and an official receipt is handed to tourist from the bank for every

PASSPORT AND
VISA Please check in your country whether a valid passport is
sufficient for you to enter Egypt . If visa applications are necessary, please
contact the Egyptian Embassy or Consulate in your country. Entry visas will be
granted to all bona fide chemistry provided application is made not less than
three months in advance. If a visa is not granted one month before the meeting,
the IUPAC secretarial should be notified without delay by the applicant.
